On this historic tour of Panama City, you will see everything about Panama from its colonial days to the new and modern Panama, including the canal. On this full day tour you will visit:
- Panama Viejo: now in ruins following the near-total destruction in 1671 by the infamous Captain Morgan, this UNESCO World Heritage Site features the remains of the original Panama City, the first European settlement on the Pacific Coast of the Americas.
- The Panama Canal (Miraflores Locks Visitors Center), this is where you can see up-close the operations of the canal and the transiting ships. There is also the canal museum and a short movie on the history and construction of the canal.
- Mi Pueblito, which means “My Little Village”. This little village showcases the prevailing customs, traditions and history of our country. All in one area, you can step inside a typical Afro-Caribbean, peasant and Indigenous house that showcases the main characteristics of these various cultures.
- Casco Viejo also called Casco Antiguo (the Old Town), this is the historic district of Panama City, built in 1673 following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo.
You will also be able to see the Cinta Costera, Avenida Balboa, Las Americas Bridge and the Fish Market (Mercado de Mariscos).
